Guidelines for Authors
Instructions for submitting manuscripts to the
Gaceta Científica Journal
Gaceta Científica Journal is the official publication of the Graduate School of the Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizán (UNHEVAL) of Huánuco, Peru, aimed at disseminating knowledge related to public or private management and administration. It is quarterly edited and peer reviewed. It is distributed in electronic version, with free full-text access through its website.
It seeks to become a methodological, plural and integral forum with an academic and institutional identity that is produced with the expression of the diversity offered in the Graduate School from research among academics, researchers-scientists, faculty, intellectuals, experts and graduate students for the dissemination of cutting-edge knowledge, academically excellent, relevant and of social importance. At the same time, it promotes discussion and debate around central questions of our time that summon, cross and expand the disciplinary frontiers.
Instructions for submission of articles to the Graduate School's Gaceta Científica Journal are based on the "Uniform Requirements for Preparing Manuscripts Submitted to Scientific Journals." OVERVIEW
a) Manuscripts submitted to the Journal must be unpublished and original, and must not have been simultaneously proposed to other publications or be in the process of publication in other journals. To this effect, the author(s) should request a letter of originality and assignment of authorship, along with the manuscript.
- The paper should be written following the guidelines for the submission of papers detailed in these instructions.
- The declaration of authorship, originality and sworn statement forms must be filled out and signed by the main author, respectively. These documents are available at: https://revistas.unheval.edu.pe/index.php/gacien/directrices
In order to initiate the editorial process of each paper, it is mandatory to submit a duly signed sworn statement and include the e-mail address of the main author and co-authors; otherwise, the paper will be returned to the author.
PAPERS PRESENTATION
The structure of the sections of the manuscripts must follow the IMRD format. The following lines specify the contents according to the type of manuscript.
The papers should be submitted in Spanish or English, in Word format, with a font size of no less than 12 on A4 paper size, single-spaced, in editable format.
Complementary Aspects
- Citation/References. According to APA 7th edition (American Psychological Association). The bibliography used, i.e., only what is referred to in the text, will be listed in alphabetical order by author's last name and first name. The last name and first name will be repeated in each entry. These standards can be accessed in detail on the APA web page or by using the following guide: https://cutt.ly/URKRa2a.
Bibliographical references, which must refer exclusively to the text of the work and will be ordered sequentially, according to their appearance, and written following the APA style 7th edition.
Journal Sections
Papers submitted to the Journal must belong to one of the following sections.
Editorial.
They are submitted at the request of the editor or general editor of the Journal. Its content can be oriented to the papers published in the same issue of the Journal or deal with a topic of interest according to the editorial policy. The maximum length is 1500 words and a minimum of 5 current bibliographical references.
4. Article
4.1 Original paper.
It is an unpublished research work on a subject related to the scientific field, management and public or private administration. It must have the following structure: abstract, key words, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions and bibliographical references. The maximum length is 250 words for the abstract, 3500 words for the content, 6 tables or figures, and 25 bibliographical references. Additionally, both in the case of the original paper and the short original, the following must be taken into account:
Abstract. It should be structured as follows: objectives (what the study seeks to determine), methods (design of the study), results (only main results) and the most important conclusions. If it is written in Spanish, it must have the corresponding translation into English or vice versa. The maximum length is 250 words.
Keywords. A minimum of three and a maximum of ten should be proposed, in Spanish and English. Descriptors in accordance with the UNESCO thesaurus or similar should be used.
Introduction. It includes a brief description of the current state of the problem, background, and justification of the study with its corresponding citation of the literature, without making an extensive review of the subject. The objectives should be stated in the last paragraph. It should not include data or conclusions of the work conducted. It should not exceed one page and should be written in the present tense.
Methods. Describe the methodology used in the past tense, to allow the reproduction of the study and the evaluation of the quality of the information. Describe the approach, type and design of the research, the characteristics of the population and how the sample was selected. Detail the structure of the measurement instruments (author, dimensions, items, form of measurement and its validation process). Mention the statistical procedures used with their statistical significance, if applicable. Include ethical considerations.
Results Present descriptive and inferential results according to the nature of the study, such results should be clear, precise, in the past tense, and the interpretation of results should not include opinions or subjective interpretations. The use of tables and figures should follow the APA format, limiting the number to a minimum of six (6) tables or figures. The units of measurement should be in accordance with the International System of Units, taking into account decimal commas.
Discussion. It is recommended to consider the following aspects: main evidence of your study, contrast of the evidence with other studies (that support and contradict the results), strengths and limitations, ending with conclusions, limitations and recommendations. Do not repeat data or information already presented in the introduction and results sections. Establish the link between the conclusions and the objectives of your study, but refrain from making general statements and drawing conclusions that do not respond to the objective of the study.
Acknowledgments. When appropriate, you should specifically mention to whom and for what type of research collaboration you are thanking.
Bibliographic References It must have the bibliographic references that were previously cited in the content of the paper according to the specifications mentioned in item 3. Bibliographical references must refer exclusively to the text of the work and will be ordered sequentially, according to their appearance, and written following the current APA style 7th edition. There should be approximately 25 bibliographic references, prioritizing the review of primary sources such as scientific papers.
4.2 Short original.
It is an unpublished and brief research work on a specific topic. It can be preliminary original research or one that does not have the transcendence of an original work. It has the same structure as an original paper. The maximum length is 150 words for the abstract, 2000 words for the content, 4 figures or tables, and 20 bibliographical references.
4.3 Review paper.
This section contains papers resulting from the analysis, systematization and integration of the results of published or unpublished research on a field of knowledge, topic or problem, with the purpose of establishing the state of knowledge about them. The Editorial Committee may invite experts on a topic of interest to write the corresponding articles. It has the following structure:
abstract, keywords, introduction, research methodology and selection of results, subject development, conclusions and bibliographical references. The maximum length is 250 words in the abstract, 4000 words in the content, 5 figures or tables, and 50 bibliographical references.
4.4 Letter to the editor. This is a communication addressed to the editor of the Journal. Letters to the editor will be accepted if they comply with the following considerations: letters referring to papers published preferably in the last two issues (maximum length of 1000 words, 1 figure or table and 6 bibliographical references) or with contributions referring to research carried out (maximum length of 1000 words, 1 figure or table, and 10 bibliographical references).
4.5 Essays. Here are included writings dedicated to the examination and critical reflection on topics related to administrative and management sciences. They must be written according to the following scheme: Unstructured abstract and keywords in both languages. Introduction, development of the topic, conclusions and bibliographical references. The maximum length is 150 words in the abstract, 2500 to 5000 words in the content, 4 figures or tables (optional), and 10 to 20 bibliographical references.
4.6 Profile. It will include the biographical narrative of a contemporary or significant person whose work has had influence in the field of management or administrative sciences in Peru or in the world. It has the same structure of a special paper.
III. ETHICAL ASPECTS
A) The Journal scientific publications comply with the ethical standards stipulated by the International Committee on Ethics in Scientific Publications, whose recommendations are found in the Code of Conduct and Guidelines of Good Practice for Journal Editors (https://publicationethics.org/).
B) The Journal has a policy of detecting ethical publication faults such as: plagiarism, fictitious authorship, changes of authorship, redundant publication, manipulation of data, and undisclosed conflict of interest. Turnitin software will be used for plagiarism detection purposes.
C) In case of any ethical misconduct in publication, the paper will be rejected or withdrawn and the measures recommended by the International Committee on Ethics in Scientific Publications will be taken, including informing the author misconduct to the other authors, the institution where they belong, their superiors, the funding institution, the Ethics Committee of their institution, other scientific journals, and other authorities.
AUTORSHIP CRITERIA
Authorship contribution. Authorship requirements are based on the recommendations of the International Committee of Editors of International Scientific Journals.
a) Significant contributions to the conception or design of the manuscript, or to the collection, analysis, or interpretation of data.
b) Significant drafting or critical revision of the content of the manuscript.
c) Final approval of the version to be published.
d) Assumption of responsibility for all aspects of the manuscript to ensure that issues concerning the accuracy or completeness of any part of the manuscript will be adequately investigated and resolved. All persons listed as authors must meet the criteria for authorship and all those who meet the criteria must be listed as authors.
The list of authors included in the authorship affidavit will be the only one considered within the editorial process of the Journal. Subsequent changes in the number and order of authors will not be accepted. Conflict of interest statement. Authors must declare any personal or business relationship that may imply bias and, therefore, a conflict of interest in connection with the submitted paper. Conflicts of interest can be direct or indirect, including financial interest of the authors from the company sponsoring the study; as well as employment, grants, per diem payments, travel, consulting, etc. Announcing the sources of financial support for the study does not imply a conflict of interest.
EDITORIAL PROCESS
Authorship contribution Authorship requirements are based on the following recommendations:

Galley proof
This is a stage of the editorial process after the layout and editing of the paper to be published. A galley proof will be sent to the author in PDF format. It will be carefully reviewed and corrections or approval of the manuscript will be sent within 48 hours. The Editorial Committee reserves the right to admit or not the corrections made by the author in the galley proof.
OTHER ASPECTS
Assignment of Copyright Agreement. Authors submitting articles to the Journal, should include a sworn statement of authorship and authorization for publication of the paper. In case of publication, they maintain their intellectual authorship rights of the papers' authors, ceding the rights of first publication in any printed or electronic format of the Gaceta Científica Journal.
This publication will be subject to the Creative Commons Acknowledgment License that allows third parties to share the work as long as its author and first publication in this journal are stated.
Authors may adopt the journal's Self-Archiving Policy.
